Main Street Heat Chili Cook-Off

The smell of spices and smoke filled the air on a chilly (no pun intended) Saturday morning on Main Street in Mount Airy. Twenty teams scurried to setup their tents and grills in 30 degree weather. But the day warmed up as the sun came out and by noon, the streets in historic Mt. Airy were filled with chili enthusiasts all lining up to sample chili, tent after tent.

The competitors ranged anywhere from professionals traveling from afar to locals just having a good time. La Prima Catering and the competition team brought their "A Game", winning 3 out of 5 categories including Best Salsa, People’s Choice Chili and Best Booth.

Placing 1st in Best Salsa, La Prima Catering can now qualify for the International Chili Society (ICS) Salsa Champions of the world.
